Gratitude
By definition, a feeling of appreciation and gratefulness.
Emotions that in life are felt towards very special people, people that help mold who we are as individuals and professionals, people that have a direct influence in crafting our professional path, who we become as a company, and the pride and quality we execute our work with.
In my professional life I have a lot to be thankful for.
I have been very fortunate since the beginning of my professional career to meet a handful of outstanding people, that not only taught me the skills I honed to produce excellent work, but that also touched my heart and soul, and left me with an irreplaceable legacy of pride in what I do.
Amongst those very few, I knew a great man, that aside from sharing with me a passion for the same industry, became a mentor, a critic and a supporter, an industry pier, and far most a wonderful friend.
Back in the 80’s when I first started working for Florida Pool & Spa and the Metcalf family, I never thought that the time spent with that
company and that family would turn out to be such a valuable and meaningful time in my life.
The extraordinary man I am talking about is Scott Metcalf.
A man driven by principal, determined, dedicated and passionate about his work.
In an industry that constantly challenges you with change, criticism and competition overload, Scott never gave up his principals and
integrity, and maintained a clear focus on fullfiling his customers expectations.
He was genuine, happy, real, caring and vested 100% in enjoying life to the fullest.
His legacy of high standards will live on, as a testimony of the kind of heart he is and will always be.
